Fines of up to €2,000 for legal violations: Government adopts amendments to Anti-Corruption Law
The Montenegrin government adopted amendments to the Law on Prevention of Corruption, strengthening rules on asset and income reporting and expanding oversight in public procurement, privatisation, and public-private partnerships.
Public officials must report detailed and accurate information about their own and close family members’ assets within 30 days of taking office, annually, after significant changes, and even for two years after leaving office. The obligation is also extended to members of commissions involved in high-value procedures (over €250,000).
Fines ranging from €500 to €2,000 are foreseen for failing to submit reports on time, providing false information, mishandling data, or harming whistleblowers.
